About Me

Coffee anyone?

048

Here I am at my writing nook surrounded by priceless art (pictures from and of my two girls). I found that if I make the large cappuccino, I can’t use “coffee break” as an excuse to skip out on my writing. I do still find other excuses, though. Like I’ve run out of chocolate…..

As for my official bio, here it is:

I’m an enthusiastic editor, educator, reader and writer of quality children’s literature. I graduated from the Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) with my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults in July 2015. I currently teach writing, composition, and literature to first and second year college students at Montclair State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University, and I teach creative writing classes on novels, memoir and picture books to adult writers at the Adult School of Montclair. I’ve been involved with SCBWI since 2008 and founded the NJ-SCBWI’s critique group for children’s writers in Westfield, NJ. For three years, I was a group coordinator for Women Who Write, a cross-genre New Jersey based writing group for women. When I’m not writing, I’m reading. When I’m not reading, I’m gardening, walking the dog, playing with my children, painting, or skiing.

If you want to learn more about how I could help you in your writing journey, email me: katie (at) katiebartlett (.) com. I’d happy to read, critique, edit, copy-edit, or just talk about the writing life in general!
